G & S Automotive Vancouver, BC V6P 3V8

A car with a broken muffler may or may not be safe to drive. Muffler damage often goes hand in hand with an Exhaust Leak a serious safety hazard. What Are People Saying About Canton Road Muffler & Auto

Here are some reviews from our users.

“Best place to get emission tests done…no wait and great price…staff is super friendly too…”

“I just got an auto emission test here and was pleased with the price and the service.”

“The muffler guy here is a complete scam artist. I’ve been getting exhaust work done ever since I could drive and done alot myself once I got setup. I moved recently and wanted some work done on my car I bought. Very simple work at that. Removing current muffler and installing aftermarket in their place plus adding a section of exhaust in the back. So I came here never said I knew anything about exhaust talked like i was a regular customer off the street. He wanted a crazy amount for just the rear section im talking ive gotten complete new exhaust setups cheaper than he wanted to do the 3 feet section in the back. Then it came replacement in the middle. He said it was completely impossible to do what I wanted. Ahhh sir you cut those 2 out and add in /4 flare to a /2. Add in the 2 aftermarket ones at a angle and done. I’m sorry this guy isn’t smart enough to add in a degree on some exhaust. People take out offset exhaust and put in straight mufflers in its place all the time.I feel sorry people have been scammed by this guy so many times and his lack of knowledge with over prices.I’m sure this will get deleted but at least the owners will see it.”

What Is The Difference Between A Muffler And The Exhaust

A muffler is one component of a vehicles exhaust system. Its job is to reduce the noises of engine combustion and evacuation of exhaust gasses. The entire exhaust system starts with your engines exhaust valve and exhaust manifold and continues through a series of pipes to at least one catalytic converter, muffler, and tailpipe.

Dual exhaust systems may employ one or two catalytic converters and mufflers, depending on the configuration. Single exhaust systems are far more common and employ a single catalytic converter and muffler, occasionally featuring two tailpipes.

Time For A New Muffler

Like other preventative vehicle checks G& S performs, we inspect the complete exhaust systems from the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe. Like any part in your vehicle, there is a lifespan to how long they will last. Factors such as heat, weather, vibration, corrosion and accidental damage can all lead to needing your muffler or exhaust system repaired or replaced. If you are unsure as to the state of your exhaust system, there are a few things we look for that will tell us it is time to bring your vehicle in. Indicators that tell you that need your muffler & exhaust system serviced are:

  • Vehicle engine is running louder than usual
  • Condensation in the exhaust pipes
  • Visual inspection for rust and holes in exhaust system
  • Loose parts like mounts and brackets due to vibration
  • Lower than usual fuel efficiency
  • Stronger than normal smell

Regular Safety Exhaust Checks

At G& S, taking care of our clients safety is our number one priority. Like many parts of your vehicle, a faulty exhaust system can be hazardous to you and your loved ones if not regularly checked and maintained. Issues like exhaust leaks can allow fumes to travel into the cabin of your vehicle. Over time, exhaust fumes can lead to fatal circumstances if not addressed right away. For this reason it is important to bring your vehicle in to G& S Autocare right away if you notice the smell of fumes.

Muffler Maintenance and Repairs

Make sure you and your cars engine are breathing properly by bringing your vehicle in to have your exhaust system inspected. Give us a call or use our convenient contact form to schedule a muffler and exhaust system service.

How Long Does A Muffler Last

The lifespan of a muffler is traditionally estimated at 40,000-80,000 miles. But your muffler may fail sooner under harsh driving conditions like cold weather, corrosive road salt, and damage from road debris and potholes. You can help mitigate corrosion by frequently having your vehicles undercarriage washed, and choosing a replacement muffler made of corrosion-resistant steel when the time comes.
